Get Your “ACT” Together!
Act 1, and 2A are well underway for my project, Vermillion. Here’s an updated overview of the project.
This upload is missing some dialogue, and obviously, the drawings are still mostly very rough. This is where the project is at for now, as I keep working to solidify the action and update sections individually.
I’m still working to incorporate notes and feedback on this section, as well as clarify several things within the layout and drawings. The biggest area that needs clarity is the picture/drawing that Adella looks at on the bus. It is supposed to be the catalyst moment, but it’s not communicating that to the audience yet.
Beat Sheet
This is the layout of the entire story. It’s hard to interpret the story when you see it as rough in-progress bits. But this is the roadmap. I am following Blake Snyder’s 15 “Save the Cat” story beats, and I anticipate the animatic will be 7-8 minutes when it’s completed.
Character Design
Marcus (Blue), Adella, and Phoebe (Yellow).
Here’s a rough character sheet! I have a much more refined one, but I like this version so you can see some of the characterization behind it all. You’ll notice Adella’s final form is missing. That’s because…. It’s a secret 😉. Actually, it’s not a secret; it’s just a work in progress. I have some solid ideas, but no formal drawing of the final dress yet.
Tracking Feedback
The last thing I’ll share with you all today is my personal way of updating and tracking feedback. Specifically, the feedback I receive from my thesis committee.
I take committee notes by hand. But I always try to type them up and add them to my feedback board. This helps keep me accountable and on track for all the progress and edits I make.
That’s about all I have to show you for updates! Thanks for checking it out, and stay tuned!
